In the gardens of the horticultural expo, there is a percussion group that presents three performances per day. And every time the audience is packed. The drummers are from the African country Burundi.

No other musical instruments accompany the Burundi performers. Their energizing wall of sound comes solely from the drums and the performers themselves.

The diameter of the drum is about one meter, and the heaviest drum is more than 50 kilograms. As one of the best percussion groups in the world, the drummers from Burundi have been touring the globe since the 1960s.

In their hometown, the performance is meant to bring prosperity and fertility to the people. The performance also reflects the daily lives of Burundi people. What they think and what they feel are reflected through their drum sounds, telling audiences about their grassland culture in Africa.

A visitor said, "They have presented the original flavor of their culture through their drum performance. I feel excited."

Team leader of Burundi said, "Chinese audiences are very enthusiastic. We were in China during the Shanghai World Expo. But this time, we are the only African team at the Horticultural Expo. So, we feel proud."

The Burundi drummers will present their performance throughout the entire six months of the Horticultural Expo in Xi'an.
